Responsible gambling
An exchange has no house edge built into the game, but it charges commission, the other side of every bet is a person who thinks you are wrong, and over time most bettors lose. Betting should only ever be paid entertainment, and only for adults.
The basics
- 18 or over only. Some places set a higher age. Follow the law where you live. In India, real-money online games are prohibited under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.
- It is not a way to make money. Commission is taken from every winning bet, prices already contain the crowd's best guess, and nobody can predict a match.
- Set a limit before you start for both money and time, and stop when you reach it. Only use money you can afford to lose, never money for rent, bills, food or debts.
- Know your liability before you lay. A lay bet can lose many times the amount you expect to win. Use the back & lay calculator until the numbers are second nature.
- Never chase losses. In-play prices move fast; a losing position does not become a winning one because you add to it.
- Take breaks and do not bet when you are tired, stressed, upset or have been drinking.
- Do not borrow to bet and do not hide your betting from the people close to you.

- Thinking about betting most of the day, or planning the next session
- Needing to stake more to get the same excitement
- Trying to win back losses, or lying about how much you bet
- Arguments with family, missing work, or borrowing money because of betting
- Feeling anxious, guilty or low after betting

Stop, and talk to someone you trust. Contact a gambling-support or mental-health service in your country: most run free, confidential helplines. Many licensed operators also offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion; ask for them or use a blocking tool on your devices.

Useful facts
- A 2% commission on net winnings sounds small, but across hundreds of bets it adds up to a large share of what is staked.
