Cash-out (hedge) calculator

The stake that locks in the same result whatever happens, after the price has moved. Runs in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

You backed (or laid) a selection, the price has moved, and you want to lock in the same result whether it wins or loses. The calculator finds the opposite bet that does this; exchanges call it greening up (profit) or redding out (loss).

₹
The price you can lay at (after a back) or back at (after a lay) right now.

Result

These figures assume your bets are matched in full at the prices you typed and that commission is charged on net winnings at the rate you entered. The exchange's own rules and rounding are the only ones that count. 18+ only.

    Under the hood

    The formula

    • After a back at odds B with stake S, lay at the current price L with stake S x B / L. The result is then the same either way: S x (B / L - 1) before commission.
    • After a lay at odds L with stake S, back at the current price B with stake S x L / B. Result either way: S x (1 - L / B) before commission.
    • If the price has shortened after a back (or drifted after a lay) the locked-in figure is a profit; otherwise it is a loss that you choose to fix rather than risk.
    • A site's "cash out" button does this arithmetic for you and may apply its own margin; the calculator shows the plain figure.

Lesson: Cash out and greening up: locking in a result before the end Glossary

A calculator never makes a bet safer

It only shows what a bet would pay. It cannot know who will win, it cannot see whether your bet will be matched and it does not change the fact that most bettors lose over time. Set your limit first. Real-money online gaming is restricted in India: read our lesson on the law.
